Celebrate Halloween with Great Golf Cart Decoration Ideas
Oct 28th 2016
Many communities hold annual Halloween golf cart parades. Other communities and cities allow owners to use golf carts on certain streets. Maybe you want to follow your little trick or treaters around in your golf cart decorated to complement their costumes.
Decorating your golf cart is a fantastic family activity. Doing so for the spookiest holiday of the year only requires a little imagination, some preparation, and deciding on a theme. Your theme can be anything. You can make your decorations as elaborate or as simple as you want.
There are literally thousands of possible themes or ideas to choose. We list some of our favorite themes below. However, before you start, you need to consider some safety points.
Safety Preparation Checklist
If you are part of a parade or plan on using your golf cart on the street, you don’t want to forget about safety before you begin decorating. You want to ensure that you, your loved ones, and those around you stay safe.
Prep your cart before you start decorating by going through a simple safety check. Ensure that your cart’s brakes, lights, and turn indicators are working. Don’t forget to fully charge the battery before the big night. Make sure you have safety belts for all the seats, and that your tires are in good shape.
Once you start decorating, be mindful of how you place the decorations. Don’t let them interfere with any lights or safety equipment.
Scooby Doo
You can easily make a great Scooby Doo Mystery Machine out of a golf cart. All you need to do is cut out some cardboard, paper, and paint. Use sheets of cardboard for each side, then cut holes in it for the windows. Cover the front, being careful not to cover up the headlights and back with paper. Paint the paper and cardboard using blue, green, and red paint just like the Scooby Doo cartoon character van.
If you are in a parade or going trick or treating, the driver can dress up like Shaggy, and the passengers as the other characters. Arrange for someone to dress up as Scooby Doo and wave and to the crowds or hand out treats.
Ghost Carts
No Halloween celebration is complete with ghosts. Turn your golf cart into a “ghost-mobile” by stringing webbing material along the side and front windows (leaving enough room to see, of course!). Place a few rubber spiders in the webbing. You can use cardboard and cut out grave markers, then stick them to the sides of the cart.
Using more cardboard, draw ghosts and place them in your graveyard scene. Place some scary carved pumpkins on the rear seats.
Place a huge inflatable spider on the roof, and maybe a witch as a hood ornament, and you are set!
Don’t forget to be in costume—maybe dressed as Tim Burton’s Sally, the corpse bride, or Jack Skellington.
Flamingos
Any Halloween parade in Florida must have at least one golf cart decorated with flamingos! This is one of the easiest, yet most colorful and distinctive decorating theme ideas.
Simply cover your golf cart in bright pink crepe paper. You can attach several plastic pink flamingos on top of the cart. You might even want to fill the rear seats with nothing but plastic or rubber flamingos.
Top it off with a flamingo on the roof. Make sure, too, that you are also wearing
your flamingo baseball hat (just attach a small inflatable flamingo to any ball
cap).
Zombie Apocalypse Golf Cart
Zombies are the Halloween theme de jour these days. One of the most popular shows ever on TV, The Walking Dead, has helped bring the zombie genre back in vogue.
A golf cart that has all you need to survive the zombie apocalypse makes a great Halloween decorating theme. Use cardboard on the sides to simulate armor plating. Put a spotlight on the front. Add a plastic machine gun (a paintball gun is fine, and will ensure no one mistakes it for real) and splatter fake blood on the front of the cart.
Have the driver wear his or her best Walking Dead outfit, complete with a plastic machete and maybe a faux barbed wire covered baseball bat.
Your zombie apocalypse golf cart will be the hit of any Halloween celebration.

Halloween themed golf carts are fun to decorate and even more fun to drive. These are only some of the ideas for Halloween golf decoration. Use one of ours, or come up with your own, and have a safe and spooky Halloween!
